CARE PACKAGES FOR POLAR BEARS
As you know our active duty 4-31 Battalion is deployed to Iraq.
For those interested in sending care packages to our 4-31 brothers the following information is provided.
Packages should be addressed as follows:

FOB HAMMER
APO AE 09308
LTC Greene requests that you mark the outside of the package or letter 31st Assoc. This will help CSM Jones identify Polar Bear packages from
his personal mail. CSM Jones will distribute all packages received through the 1SG's. As the soldiers receive the packages they will correspond directly with you, future packages will not need to be routed through CSM Jones but, can be sent directly to your soldier.
CHRISTMAS PACKAGES should be mailed not later than DEC 12
Suggestions for care package contents from LTC Greene include:
Good to send:
DVDs (Movies, TV Shows, etc.)
Toilet Items (we are in a remote area with only a tiny PX)
Books and Magazines aimed at 19-24 year old male demographic
Letters from well-wishers with return addresses so Soldiers can write back
Pocket sized treats so Soldiers can take them outside the wire
Holiday cookies and homebaked-treats
Smokeless Tobacco products
Not as Good:
Pre-packaged food and processed food (plenty of great food at Chow Hall)
Items that spoil after two weeks in the mail
Don't Send:
Booze (illegal)
Porn (illegal)
Cigarettes (not illegal; just not good for the guys)
Please keep our Polar Bears in your thoughts and prayers. If you are unable to participate in sending a care package please remember that
cards and letters wishing them our love and support are just as important.
